Plan For Tomorrow's Leaders Today

Delay Now - Pay Later

Every Monday should begin with a focus on succession planning - but especially this Monday, following the important announcement over the weekend when Berkshire Hathaway's board unanimously approved Greg Abel as Warren Buffett’s successor. Buffett was at the helm for more than six decades. ~IMPRESSIVE~

Leadership is the backbone of any thriving business, and every leader is responsible for ensuring strong successors are ready to step in. So succession planning is vital for any organization that wants to secure its future and maintain long-term success.

I first learned about the theory of succession planning during my Master of Science in HRMD, but I put it into practice even before I became a leader - and have championed it ever since.

The KEY is that you don’t just pick successors - you mentor them. This was clearly demonstrated by Buffett’s approach.

By prioritizing succession planning and actively developing future leaders, organizations ensure continuity and resilience. It’s a responsibility I’ve carried proudly throughout my career.
